I may have made a miscalculation. I am a thief by trade, hired by people to steal things they’d like to have. Normally it’s simply a break-in, where I grab grandma’s repossessed necklace or uncle’s antique watch. Simple. Then there are the few clients who want me to go big— getting into someone’s mansion. Stealing their one-of-a-kind vases and paintings. I was contacted by a wealthy homeowner who wanted me to help him retrieve some precious necklace. It was in a vault, in the basement of one of the biggest crime lords in the city. It sounded easy enough. The vents were my way in and out.
